![]() Longboard surfing in Waikiki and all of Hawaii, especially back in the 80s, was really about big wave, power surfing, and I think because we’ve all been able to watch the people that came before us surf with power and grace in big waves, it’s inspired a lot of us to continue. They’re just your typical local kids who love the beach and do everything that revolves around the ocean. I think the coolest thing that distinguishes these kids from other kids is the culture of Hawaii and the power behind Hawaiian longboard surfing. They surf so good on longboards but they can actually surf any board. They can literally surf a door if you give them a door. Most of them homeschool, most of them live in Waikiki, and they were just born and groomed into some of the most beautiful, graceful, humble surfers. I don’t know if it’s the new equipment or the push that they give each other, but they’re next level. These five girls come from Waikiki. They’re best friends-all five of them-and they pretty much live the dream life. But you already knew that. What about the bright young whipper-snappers who are following in her footsteps? The Queen of Waikiki herself gave us the scoop on the next reign of young Hawaiian longboarders.
